SPICE UP your kitchen!!!!

CHICKEN AGAIN!!!!! AAAAARGH

Is this what you hear coming for your husband, wife, or children when asked..what's for dinner?

and trying to get the family on board with these changes? Often, it doesn't take long to figure out what foods work for your goals, but THEN WHAT....you get stuck in that rut of eating the same darned thing it seems..... day in and day out!!!

Let me introduce you to one of my FAVORITE stores

This one is only in Canada as far as I know, but I'm sure you have one of these WONDERFUL stores I like to call the "creative chef's toy's R us." It's a store FULL of bulk food bins, ranging from baking, candies, chocolates, teas, spices, oils, and more. There was a time, not to long ago, that I would come here to choose a few pieces of my favorite chocolate snacks, and i'd get the strangest look at the till when the cost was all of 15-30 cents. I'd have to explain every time, "if I buy more, I'll eat it all, lol" This was the solution to my OUT OF CONTROL sweet tooth :)

Fast fwd a year or so, after a LOT of hard, mental persistence, I no longer have that sweet tooth!! BUT, I have a new guilty pleasure!!! SPICES!!!!!!

So what am I trying to get at?? Well, if you love chicken, ground turkey, fish, or beef, it doesn't have to taste the same everyday!!! That's the brillance of clean natural food, it takes on the flavor of whatever you add to it!

LOOK AT ALL THESE SPICES ABOVE!!!!

Just imagine how many combinations you can come up with to TOTALLY transform your food into something new! Not to mention the health benefits (but that's another post all together)

The total awesomeness of these bulk food havens, is that you can buy just as much as you need, to give it a try. No more waste, but all the taste!

I'm particularily partial to Indian Spices, but my newest find was a premade shwarma spice blend!!! Now I have the food of one of my favorite restaurants at home, for a 1/3 of the cost!!! Can you say SCORE!!!

Make your own seasoning mixes so that you can control the amount of preservatives and salt that is going into your families food! Here are some GREAT examples below!!! I can tell you, I eat ground turkey EVERYDAY, but I NEVER get sick of it. Every batch tastes different as I get creative with my spices!

Chili Seasoning Mix Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Chili Powder

  • 1/4 cup Garlic Powder

  • 3 tablespoons Onion Powder

  • 1/4 cup Oregano

  • 2 tablespoons Paprika

  • 1/4 cup Cumin

  • 1 tablespoon Thyme

Caribbean Jerk Seasoning Recipe Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Onion Powder

  • 2 tablespoons Sea Salt

  • 2 tablespoons Thyme

  • 2 teaspoons ground Allspice

  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne Powder (optional)

Asian 5-Spice Seasoning Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Anise Powder

  • 1 tablespoon Ground Pepper

  • 1 tablespoon ground Fennel

  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon ground Cloves

  • 1 tablespoon Himalayan or sea salt

Pumpkin Pie Spice Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon ground Ginger

  • 2 teaspoons Nutmeg

  • 2 teaspoons Allspice powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon Cloves powder (optional)

This mix is great for overnight oats, morning oats, muffins, cheesecake or flavorings for your Isalean Pro Shakes

Fajita Seasoning Recipe Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Chili Powder

  • 2 tablespoons Sea Salt

  • 2 tablespoons Paprika

  • 1 tablespoon Onion Powder

  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder

  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne Powder (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon Cumin Powder

Homemade Curry Powder Recipe Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Paprika

  • 1/4 Cup Cumin

  • 1 Tbsp Fennel

  • 2 Tbsp Fenugreek (if you want a sweetness

  • 2 Tbsp Mustard Powder

  • 1 Tbsp Ground Red Pepper Flakes (if you want heat)

  • 3 Tbsp Ground Coriander

  • 1/4 Cup Tumeric

  • 1 Tbsp Ground Cardamom (optional)

  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon

  • 1/2 Tsp Ground Cloves
